Kia ora e te whānau, nau mai, haere mai ki te MindSprout!
Our warmest welcome to MindSprout, where we hope you can discover some techniques of mindfulness that work for you in your own unique life.
How it all started
Our founders are long time friends from the start of their university days who both have a passion for helping others. Although the two both started as pre-vet students in the same year, their paths diverged into different areas. Saskia has now been a High School Science Teacher for seven years and Morgan has recently gained her PhD in Animal Welfare. Both have a keen interest in psychology and neurodiversity; we are passionate about creating spaces that are accessible for all, especially in the area of mindfulness.
MindSprout started as a lightbulb moment in a school hui that flickered to life in Saskia’s mind while discussing how students need different ways to explore resilience. Saskia knew that the only other person who would be passionate and energised enough to make this project happen was Morgan, so a quick message later and the long-time friends were suddenly transformed into business partners. Our hope is to provide a place where those who have struggled to use traditional mindfulness practices can find their own path to it.
As two people who have struggled with the “just sit down and meditate” style of mindfulness themselves, we want to change the way we think about mindfulness and design a place for anyone and everyone to find practices that work for them.
Mindfulness and the Mindfull app
MindSprout intends to grow into many more areas of mindfulness and community support, starting with the Mindfull app. This app aims to bring accessibility to mindfulness for all, especially those who haven’t found access to this type of self-care before.
In a large market of meditation and mindfulness apps, there still don’t seem to be any options for those who need something a little more. Something that doesn’t feel like a chore to complete or berate you if you miss a day or two of practice.
The Mindfull app is a no-judgment zone, where you can develop fundamental skills and explore mindfulness in a way that works for you. Welcome to your mindfulness journey, step into your garden and find the support you need to bloom beyond boundaries.
Mindfull will take you through different ways of experiencing mindfulness using the five senses of sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch. There will be guides and games that take you through exercises where you will develop skills like intentional posture, mind-breath connection, and meditation using a curated selection of evidence-based practices.
The ultimate goal for the Mindfull app is to help users to bring mindfulness into their everyday lives, setting them up with lifelong skills that they can practice in their daily lives. We’re so excited to work with our community to create a space where mindfulness can be accessible for anyone who needs it.
Thank you
Morgan and Saskia want to welcome you to the MindSprout whānau, and encourage you to give mindfulness a go using the Mindfull app. If you ever want to give the team some feedback or ask us a question you can get in touch with us at MindSproutNZ@gmail.com
Thank you for being here with us, we hope you have a great time cultivating your garden to bloom beyond boundaries.
Arohanui,
Morgan & Saskia
